The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis

Overview of Event:
“The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis is a long-distance endurance paddle challenge and international championship race that takes paddlers 80 miles across the Gulf Stream from Bimini in the Bahamas back to the City of Lake Worth Beach, Florida. It is a movement and vehicle of change for building a platform of advocacy to spread awareness, fundraising, inspiration, improved quality of life, and social innovation in the cystic fibrosis community. The event was inspired because of the incredible health benefits of the ocean for those living with cystic fibrosis, a terminal lung disease. Through the Piper’s Angels Foundation and their programs, including The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis, they are able to make a lifelong impact on the patients and families facing the challenges of this heart-breaking terminal disease.”
SŌLACE first became aware of The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis when the BLU3 team aboard their SŌLACE 41CS participated in the 2023 Crossing. After learning more about the event and the positive impact the ocean can have on those living with cystic fibrosis, SŌLACE was eager to find a way to support this inspiring community. When Brad Shallow reached out that he was looking for a support vessel for the 2024 race, it was an easy yes from team SŌLACE.
2024 Recap:
Brad Shallow partnered with SŌLACE for the 2024 Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Shallow has participated once before in the fundraiser in 2021. With a SŌLACE 37CS as his support vessel, Brad was ready to tackle the expedition once again. Fueled by determination and a desire to make a difference. Due to uncooperative weather conditions which prevented the traditional paddle, we are so glad we were still able to successfully raise both awareness and funds to support those affected by cystic fibrosis and are eager to take part in this incredible event in the future.
2025 Overview:
Crossing Date: June 18th-22nd, 2025
Registration for the 2025 Crossing kicks off August 31st, 2024. Read more about this incredible cause and donate to support those with cystic fibrosis.
